Mankato, MN (Mankato Gazette Newspaper) - The Minnesota Brawlers, a semi-professional football team that plays exhibition and Northern Elite Football League sanctioned games in the area on fields in Mankato, Saint Peter, Madelia, Burnsville, etc. The team is now focusing a major effort on creating more value for the community and growing the team into a more mature asset for the Mankato area and for Minnesota. They recently volunteered with United Way at a local men's event at the Kato Ballroom.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) used Twitter to show a photo and announce the catch of a massive Bighead Carp on the Minnesota River by a commercial fisher.

Vikings Loss Tough to Get Over

The Minnesota Vikings had a stellar year. Many of the team's players were recognized by all sorts of football fans and by people involved with the NFL. The team was able to get to first in their division after beating the Green Bay Packers, but ultimately lost out on advancing through playoffs due to a faulty kick that ended the game with a Vikings loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 10-9.

A petition is circulating the Internet, thanks in part to a website called Change.org, to halt the practice of wildlife killing for sport. In particular the petition, initiated by a White Bear Lake, Minnesota man named Scott Slocum, the petition is campaigning to get Gov. Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to put an end to these kinds of contests.

Young Teddy Bridgewater made a career-high after passing for four touchdowns. Attempting to throw for five, he instead ran the ball to the end zone, showing the NFL and fans that his skills are only growing better and more mature. The game took place Sunday at the University of Minnesota TCF Stadium in Minneapolis. Bridgewater's record during the game was amazing. He made 17 of 20 complete passes, totaling 231 yards.
